I've dealt with the police as the bad guy. From traffic violations to more serious occasions. I treated them with respect and, unremarkably, they did the same to me. I did what I was told and made the process as simple as possible. Any encounter with the police, you get out of it what you put into it. Yeah, there are going to be a few fools out there. Is this a "stop and frisk" or safety check point type of program or is it Police sitting along side the road or in a parking lot checking for signs of suspicious activity type of program?

This comment in itself is ignorant. You don't know everyone's experiences with the cops. I have had some good ones but I have also had some very bad ones, anymore I am on guard when I have an encounter with the police. Not all of them have the protect and serve mentality especially the younger ones.

Event will take place July 21 at Clemens Field

There will be a Chalk Art Contest at Clemens Field July 21 as part of Missouri Operation Lifesaver Night at the ballpark.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Children can take part of the sidewalk art contest by drawing a picture or message that depicts the Operation Lifesaver message in designated squares at the ballpark entrance.

Missouri Operation Lifesaver is awarding warm-up jerseys to the winners. Age groups are: 3 to 6; 7 to 10; 11 to 14.

The Cavemen play the Quincy Gems starting at 7:05 p.m.

The contest is co-sponsored by Missouri Operation Lifesaver, Hannibal Cavemen, Hannibal Arts Council and Hannibal Parks & Recreation.
