A full week of activities
MONDAY, OCTOBER 7
Ellington Elementary – Fire Safe House – 8:45 to 10:45am - 3rd grade students will participate in a lesson on fire safety and then put their skills to the test in the fire safe house.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8
Berrian Elementary – Walk to School Day – 2nd graders will celebrate “Walk to School Day” in conjunction with the Adams County Health Department.
Early Childhool and Family Center – Love and Logic Parenting Class – 9am and 6pm – Parents learn how to raise their child to be responsible, respectful, and fun to be around.
Ellington Elementary – School-wide Fire Drill – 10:45am - Students and staff will conduct a fire drill under the observation of the Quincy Fire Department.
Ellington Elementary – QHS Marching Blue Devils will perform for Ellington students in preparation for the Hannibal parade and field competition. - 1:15pm
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9
Berrian Elementary – National bring your Teddy Bear to School day
Early Childhool and Family Center – Meals and Wheels – 5 to 7pm - Come explore vehicles of all shapes, sizes and types and then enjoy a picnic supper! A great outside experience for the whole family! We will also have a Car Seat Check from 5:00-6:00pm on Kentucky Street. (ECFC – Back Parking Lot & 9th Street)
Ellington Elementary – Central Fire Station Visit – 12:30 to 2pm - Firefighters will present information on their jobs and fire safety to Kindergarten classes.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11
Berrian Elementary – Parent/Child Activity – 1:30 to 2:30pm – Kindergarten parents are invited to school to work with their students on an activity.
Quincy Junior High – “Lunch on the Lawn” – QJHS students will be eating their lunch outside between 10:23 and 12:54. They will be able to purchase caramel apples as a special fall treat.
Berrian Elementary – One School, One Book (The World According to Humphrey) - The entire school, including the staff, will read a chapter book at home with their families. The school will then discuss the chapter together at school.
Berrian Elementary - Community Service Project - Students are using their recess time to make bags of household items for families in need.
Quincy Senior High School - QHS Art II class and Art Club will be making centerpieces for the Night to Dream Big dinner fundraiser for the Quincy Public Schools Foundation. Jen Teter, from the Quincy Art Center, and Blane Barnes, QHS Art Teacher, will guide the students in making ceramic centerpieces. This will take place during 8th hour (1:30-2:25) and after school (2:25-3:30).
Quincy Senior High Schoool - Blane Barnes, QHS art teacher, has created an abstract mural depicting the famous Leonardo daVinci portrait, Mona Lisa. It is painted using over 2,000 squares of paint. It is displayed outside the art room in A-Building.
