Treasurer candidates have differences of approach

City Treasurer Peggy Crim says she has improved the functions of the treasurer's office in her 12 years.

Her Republican challenger, Tom Ernst, says more can be done.

The two people running for City Treasurer met at Quincy University's North Campus for the second half of the candidates forums Tuesday night.

Crim says the office is not a political office, but one of fiscal responsibility and handling the city's money.

Ernst says he wants to streamline city government by having the treasurer take over the duties of the comptroller's office.
