Toys for Tots back and looking for help
7 months, 3 weeks ago By Paige Traeder
Due to administrative reasons, Toys for Tots was not in the area last year. Well, the program is back this year and needs your help.
Founded in 1947 to help bring happiness back into the lives of children, Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.
Steve Lindsey, the local coordinator for Toys For Tots, says the #1 goal is to make sure children have a good Christmas.
"Our main thing is we're doing this to make the kids happy," says Lindsey, "no matter how bad the economy is or how bad things are, the kids still deserve to have a good Christmas and have hope, and that's what it's all about."
Volunteers are needed to pass out boxes, collect, distribute, and sort toys and then just get out there and help the public know that Toys for Tots is back in the area.
