Token Liberal: George Zimmerman and the reason we need gun control

For all the good intentions pro gun ownership people have, the fact is there really are very few people who can be trusted to carry guns.   
 
When George Zimmerman got his he must have felt empowered to do something about crime.   He shot an innocent kid for walking through his neighborhood after dark in a hoodie.
 
And these incidents will happen far too often now that concealed carry and gun ownership without proof of sanity and ability to hit what you're aiming at are going by the wayside.

Our neighbors in Pike County just passed a referendum allowing concealed carry.  I've lived in this area my whole life and don't recall anyone that needed to be shot by a civilian in Pike County.  I can't remember any instances around here where lives were saved and our communities were once again made safe for families because fiends were shot dead by armed citizens.   But surely someone will say fiends wouldn't be as fiendish if they new we were all packing guns.   And we could recognize them as fiends anyway since they all wear hoodies now as Geraldo Rivera alluded.

The question of freedom is usually raised when talking of gun ownership.  I hope my freedom to not be shot because It was chilly and I was wearing a hoodie while walking home from a convenience store surely must be more valuable than the guy's that shot me for suspiciously wearing a hoodie and eating a bag of Skittles.  

Or shot by a stray bullet from a gun owned by someone unqualified and unprepared for the responsibility.  

We make people get tested and go through rigorous training to get a drivers licence.  It's only good sense to require more than an application for a FOID card and a background check that law enforcement has to perform in 24 hours.   

More innocent people will end up like Trayvon Martin if we don't.
