The candidate for Missouri Senator discussed several changes needed in the Senate
“The Government is the thing causing problems. It’s not the solution, it’s the problem”
That's one statement Todd Akin, Candidate for Missouri Senator, said on WTAD’s Morning Meeting, while discussing several changes he thinks need to be done in the Senate.
Akin is running against current Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill in the November election.
“We’ve voted on mostly the same bills, and we’ve voted mostly oppositely,” said Akin.
Akin added, “McCaskill was the first U.S. senator to endorse President Barak Obama in 2008, and she’s been his right arm.”
“Obama and McCaskill promised Americans if the $787 billion stimulus bill was passed unemployment would drop below 6 and everything in the economy would start going,” said Akin.
He also said Obama and McCaskill didn’t keep other promises as well.
“They promised they were going to cut the deficit by 50%. Instead of doing that, they tripled it times 3- $1.5 trillion in the first year. They also promised to cut healthcare costs by $200,500 and instead, what’s happened, healthcare costs have gone up over $2,000. Taxes in Obamacare that are taxing that are making less than $250,000, another broken promise.” Akin said he’s running for senate because “The current Senator goes along with Obama and wants more and more and more government regulations, which costs more money that we don’t have. I believe we need to take some common sense to Washington D.C., cut the size of the government and give people some freedom.”
