Showcase of Excellence on Saturday wraps up a busy week


Quincy Public Schools events occurring the week of March 4

TUESDAY,  MARCH 5

Adams Elementary – Family Read Night – 6 to 7:30pm - Adams Elementary School is sponsoring a time to celebrate reading as a family! It will be great time with families reading and learning about Math with Reading – Together! Activities include: Book Exchange, Math book and FUN activity with members of the Adams Family, A Free New Book!, Fun Family Time!   Special Guest Reader Rajah Maples

FRIDAY,  MARCH 8

Monroe Elementary  -  Buster the Bus – 8:45am and 9:30am – The Transportation Department discussed bus safety with the help of Buster the Bus

Dewey Elementary – Annual Dewey Talent Show – 6pm -  Dewey students perform their amazing talents for Dewey family and friends.  Talents include singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, comedians, bow and arrow target shooting, and much more!!!

SATURDAY, MARCH 9

Dozens of show choirs and jazz bands from across the tri-states will participate in the 21st Annual Showcase of Excellence.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets are good for all performances. Food and beverages will be available in the QHS cafeteria.   All proceeds go to benefit music education throughout Quincy Public Schools. 

WEEK-LONG ACTIVITIES

District-wide-  ISAT TESTING MARCH 4-8

Early Child and Family Center – Special Persons Days – March 4 thru March 18 – ECFC classes each have a designated day where students bring in a “special person”.  All participate in activities focused on classroom goals.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

The KROC center and Berrian PTA have teamed up to sponsor a 3rd grade basketball league.  Games begin in March.   The 3rd grade Berrian girls practice on Tuesdays from 2:30 – 3:15pm.  The 3rd grade Berrian boys practice on Wednesdays from 2:30 – 3:15pm.

The Berrian drama club meets on Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 to rehearse for their upcoming play. 

QHS art students are currently preparing work for the 39th annual Quincy Art Center high school art competition.
