It could be a crowded February primary for one Quincy City Council seat.
A third person has picked up petitions to run for Alderman in Quincy’s Third Ward.
Ken Hultz picked up petitions last week to run as a Republican for the seat vacated by Alderman Kyle Moore’s run for mayor.
Hultz joins Tom Ernst and Jared Holbrook as people who have picked up petitions to run for the seat. All three men are running as Republicans.
Hultz is a small business owner, operating Hultz We Care Auto Care, 325 Vermont. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Quincy Tea Party.
Fifth Ward Alderman Mike Rein has picked up petitions to run for re-election next year.
Rein, a Republican who is the executive director of Transitions of Western Illinois, was the second person to take out petitions for the seat. Jonathon Schoenekase had previously picked up petitions to run as an independent.
Petitions to run in the February 26, 2013 primary need to be turned in between November 19 and 26.
