...and in Adams County I was required to show a photo ID to vote early even though the statute was amended effective July 1st to eliminate that requirement for 2014 only. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/fulltext.asp... middle of para (b).

370-400 bushels per acre? National average is supposed to be a record at 172, but are they making 370 even in the irrigated bottom ground? We had lotsa rain and a lot of double ears filled out ... but the average is only 10 bushels higher. Of course most of those extra bushels are probably sold at $3, and they are looking at under $3 next year. Most farmers already made a lot of purchases with…

Ellington is concrete, doesn't seem "temporary". If the roof is an issue, put some pretty metal gabled roofs over the thing. HVAC is the issue? ... how can it be more for new units than a new building with new HVAC? They could even add a new building behind the old(er) building. The best sales point to me is in attracting industry to the area, which wants to attract individuals, who want good…

Please re-read the article... it said a FLAT year. That means no expected growth and no expected losses. So spectulating and crying doom is very premature.

Strawman: Counting on the Unaccountable

3 months, 3 weeks ago by Strawman

As you ready yourself for a long weekend of fireworks, barbecue and family time ask yourself this: how many more of these will I get?

And there you go again, Strawman.  Laying on the gloom and doom right before our nation’s birthday.  Talk about your buzz-kill.  DW was right about you!!!

Not so fast.  While you were writing that check for Illinois property taxes and reveling in the most recent Supreme Court rulings (tongue in cheek here) the illegal alien population continued to grow at an alarming rate.  We now have a number of federal buildings around the country being used to warehouse aliens, mostly children, from countries too numerous to list.  Fact is, I don’t know where these kids are from.  And neither does I.C.E.  They’re too busy buying underwear!

Of course, while all this is going on our fine officials in Washington are making it out like we the people are responsible for the safety and well-being of those who have chosen to enter our country with not so much as the clothes on their back.   Get a load of some of what the best and brightest have to say regarding the invasion of our southern border:

Nancy Pelosi: “The fact is these are children, children and families.  We have a moral responsibility to address this in a dignified way.”

Harry Reid: “Undocumented immigrants are our neighbors, our classmates.  Regardless of how they got here and why they lack the proper documentation….they are 11 million people, and they play a crucial part in our economy and communities where they live.”

And not to be outdone, our heroes in the Republican Party are attempting to “make things better” with a new Emergency Refugee program.  Thanks, another program, more zero accountability government.  You just knew Lindsey Graham would be compelled to run to a hot microphone to add in his 2 cents.  And he did.

Lindsey Graham: “We’d be able to make a more intelligent decision about what’s legitimate and you wouldn’t have the problem of people showing up, dropped off at the door,” Graham said as it related to the new program. “That makes sense to me.”   What?

Look, the reason we have an immigration issue is we’ve allowed immigration to become an issue.  Instead of enforcing the law, the feds (Obama administration) have sued and penalized those who have tried!   And yes, those before Obama have done a terrible job dealing with immigration too.  It’s not all Obama.

It’s pretty simple: border agents should be allowed to enforce the law, ask for ID and then detain those who have entered the country illegally, regardless of age, and ready them for deportation.  But of course, none of that is happening how. As it stands, you and I are, again, picking up the tab, feeding, clothing and housing our new friends and, in some cases, flying or bussing them to sites where they’re being warehoused like unsold copies of Hillary’s new book.  Makes sense to me.

Look, all I want is for the Feds to do their job, enforce the laws, protect the border and stay out of my business.  I’m looking for accountability from our elected officials.  Hold the rhetoric, eliminate all the blah-blah-blah, and pass on the guest shots on Greta.  Just do your job!

Or how about this thought?  If law makers in Washington are that hot in bringing in these immigrants by the thousands, why don’t we set up one big tent city in the National Mall in Washington?  Hey Nancy, c’mon on down and rub elbows with your new friends!!!  Harry, these are your “classmates”!   Don’t you want to spend some time with Juan and Julio?  Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Now, don’t burn the burgers and be careful with those fireworks……..

Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious…….that’s for you CW.  Happy Fourth of July!
