I don't recall you calling for a part time mayor when the previous mayor blew $6 million on Hydro which is exactly what put the city in this predicament.

And some try to tell us that is just the boomers retiring, but in fact the older folks are working longer, it is the younger folks that are leaning on entitlements more than before.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that, for instance, the labor participation rates of those aged 25 to 54 years decreased from 76.4% in 2002 to 70.9% in 2012 – while the rates of those aged 55 and over…

This mayor is a poor leader. He thinks he is the smartest one in the room. How can you move an organization in the direction it needs to go when the leader is not competent?

Another idea that was put forward to try and prevent cuts and/or taxes, presented by the mayor and shot down by (part of) the council. But guess who will be blamed....

I don't see why not. Those very same elected officials (at the state level, anyway) seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to renege on established contracts when they decide it cost too much to honor the commitment. Good for the goose, right? (BTW, this isn't an issue of whether you support unions or not. Even if you hate them and think they screwed everyone over with their contracts,…

Strawman: Trey Gowdy Rocks!

9 months, 4 weeks ago by Strawman

I have the same feeling I had Sunday afternoon.  USA is leading Portugal 2-1 in the World Cup---there are seconds remaining in the game. But, because it’s soccer, no one really knows how much time is left, but what the heck. The good guys are winning and it looks like they’ve made the final 16.  And then disaster.  Portugal ties the game on a perfect goal and………..it’s reality all over again.

The same thing would happen 24 hours later.

Monday night (that’s right Earl, prime time, must see TV)  South Carolina’s Trey Gowdy slapped the taste out of the mouth of IRS Commissioner and snark-master John Koskinen.  It was a thing of beauty.

The IRS, who up to those few moments Monday night, pretty much had been telling those participating at the Congressional hearings to suck on it, were dealt a set-back.  All be it, not a big one, but an in your face Mr. IRS, you’re not as smart as you think you are set-back.  And it was all done by the book and in the most professional manner possible given the circumstances.

The trouble the right will have with Gowdy handing Koskinen his ass, is that, save for a few us who enjoy a good beat down now and again, it will soon be forgotten.  Or Daryl Issa or John Boehner will sell us out behind closed doors.  Come to think of it, that’s probably happening right now.

But for the moment, Gowdy is my guy.  For a brief moment, the USA was leading the country of IRS-Obama 2-1.  So I guess I’ll have to live in the moment.

The good news here; Trey Gowdy is the point man on the upcoming Benghazi Special Committee.  The bad news; there’s only one of him.

And don’t bring Paul Ryan’s name up.  Ain’t even close……
