You're saying there is a lack of police presence in that area due to funding? That's news to me, and I'd like to know if that is true. Who are these slum-lords and what exactly are they doing wrong? Renting low-end housing to people who can afford nothing better? It sucks that there are people in the area that have low income, but they have to live somewhere. I can understand how it…

Yes, but you know as well as I that these insensitive comments would not be here if this happened to a white kid east of 18th street. I see a lot of this kind of judgmental, high-and-mighty bs on these boards, and I don't believe that race plays no part at all in it. In some cases, "bringing it in" is justified. You are welcome to disagree.
CoolEdge - Google controls what we buy, the news we read — and Obama’s policies - Quincy, IL News -
"Google has the power to bump an article it doesn’t like off the table and under the rug. Even moving information off the first page of search results would effectively neutralize it: According to a 2013 study, 91.5 percent of Google search users click through on a first-page result." This definitely happens a lot already. I've searched specific topics and have the Dem talking point articles…

It is clearly an opinion piece. I'm not bashing QJ for publishing this as news, I think there are people who will read this and take it as news, since it's posted on a news site (even though it's under the opinion page). Most people won't take the time to discern. I would honestly like to see a local journalist do some good solid research on this topic and post an unbiased article.…

Strawman: Just Defund It!!!!

9 months, 2 weeks ago by Strawman

Seen any news coverage on the latest coal killing EPA regulations, updates on the inner workings of the IRS, the Obama solution to the Veteran’s Administration scandal or the Affordable Healthcare Act?

Me neither.  In fact, other than the worst trade since Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio, we’ve heard nothing but Bergdahl for the Gitmo Five.

And while the president is telling us all that “we don’t leave anyone behind”, Sgt.Andrew Tahmooressi is still in a Mexican jail and the Nigerian girls are still being held hostage by the Boko Haram terrorists.  In fact, 20 more Nigerian school girls were recently kidnapped by Boko Haram.  Looks like Mrs Obama’s hashtag solution was about as effective as her meal plans.

As Bergdahl “recovers” in a military hospital in Germany, the world awaits his first words.  I can’t wait for that moment, can you? Speaking of the recovery, it’s reported that, other than skin and gum maladies, Bergdahl is in good health and was NOT undernourished as first reported.  Damn!! Now you’ve got me doing it.

Climbing off the Bergdahl bus and regressing to the first point, I have to ask this question: if Congress was REALLY interested in putting a stop to the nonsense the various Obama agencies are inflicting upon the country, couldn’t they just defund those agencies?  I think they could.

From the desk of the Strawman comes a few solutions to the problems at hand:

EPA/Coal regulations:                  Before granting the EPA another dime to continue to regulate the United States into a third world country, how about we, the American people, be given a chance to weigh in on this issue?  Collectively we were able to stop the global warming movement a few years ago and I believe that, if asked, America would shove this most recent climate change movement up Obama’s EPA.  I know I would.  Oh yeah, and Congress could get the ball rolling by cutting their operating budget by 50%. As the EPA has already demonstrated they have plenty of time on their hands. (And God knows what else)

The IRS:                                            Stop watering the plant.  When the IRS officials come clean and provide answers to the questions they’ve been dodging for years, Congress might consider putting some money back into the IRS checking account.  Until then IRS, no one is interested in funding you—make it happen on what you’ve been provided.  The IRS has proven to be a collection of un-trust worthy, partisan hacks.  It’s time for them to go.  And take Lois Lerner with you.

The Veteran Administration:       Vouchers are the answer here.  And it’s a simple solution that will get immediate results.  Instead of continuing to ask the government to do something they’re incapable of doing, pull the plug.  Provide vouchers to each veteran in need of attention and allow them to get the treatment they need from the provider they want.  And should a veteran seek treatment at a V.A. hospital, that’s his or her choice.  Vouchers will eliminate “the secret lists” and give the veterans the service they more than deserve while the Feds attempt to clean up this embarrassing mess. Some of what Bernie Sanders and John McCain are pitching in the Senate is included here, but their solution comes with a 500 million price tag to hire doctors, build clinics, etc.  No thanks gents, stop the spending, let the free market handle this and get out of the way.  And while you’re at it, fire those responsible for the V.A. scandal, take their benefits away and see to it they never work in the health care field again. And that includes Eric Shinseki. He’s first.  And if Eric Holder’s Justice Department isn’t interested in participating---fire them and bring in some new blood. That’s my version of “social justice.”

The Affordable Healthcare Act:  Name the new Kathleen Sebelius.  Can’t, can you?  That’s the point.  Obamacare has been off the front page for so long you’ve resigned yourself to the fact that it’s here and there’s nothing we can do about it.  Well, we can.  Defund it. By the way, the new Sebelius goes the by the name of Sylvia Mathews Burwell.  Equipped with the standard 1000 yard stare, lack of talent and questionable pedigree, Burwell has been charged with fixing the un-fixable.  I suggest she start by getting a refund for the Obamacare website that STILL doesn’t work.  And how about some REAL enrollment numbers?  We still haven’t a clue as to who, and how many are signed up and PAID UP.  The HHS under Sebelius couldn’t (or wouldn’t) produce those . And as to the “questionable pedigree”; according to The Business Insider  (http://www.businessinsider.com/new-hhs-secretary-whitewater-link-2014-6) Burwell was involved in both Whitewater and the Vince Foster “suicide” during the Clinton Administration.  Just the type of quality people we want running the government.

It’s time for the Obama regime to be held accountable. That means heads rolling and charges filed.  But first, we need leadership who is both interested in and capable of getting the job done.  Any names come to mind?

I’m drawing a blank…….
