The quote you cited is a thought-provoking one; your point is well taken. My problem is with this idea (I'm paraphrasing) "if people can't be bothered to acquire a Photo ID, they must not be too interested in having a vote". With all due respect, I can't disagree with that more strongly. The people who have *the least* chance of ever being disenfranchised (the Bushes, Clintons, Kochs,…

South Carolina's own State Law Enforcement Division (headed by the state's Republican attorney general) went through those (supposed) 35,000 votes with a fine-toothed comb... and eventually found no reason to believe that any fraud had occurred. The vast majority of that 35k figure you mentioned was eventually determined to be simple cases of human clerical error by poll workers; those happen…

I used the word "freely", which does NOT mean "I got an ID for free". As to your other point, all I'll say is that your experiences are not mine, and mine are not yours... Whether you want to believe it or not, there are Americans who through no particular fault of their own, are not capable of acquiring an ID.

Strawman: Is That Obamacare In My Beandip?

4 months, 2 weeks ago by Strawman

I fear for our president, in that, it looks like he isn’t having any fun.

In his tireless effort to make Jimmy Carter look like George Washington, Barack “you can keep your plan” Obama rolled out yet another re-launch of the steaming pile of feces known as the Affordable Healthcare Act.  Yet on Tuesday, even though he was surrounded by supporters, handlers and certified worshippers, his statements rang hollow and were delivered without the usual verve and enthusiasm that got him elected not once, but twice.

"Tell your friends, tell your family -- do not let the initial problems with the website discourage you," Obama said, as the kool-aid drinking minions looked on.  But who in their right mind would?  Those who voted for this disaster and are running for re-election are treating Obama like a 1 year old with dirty pants and rightfully so.  He’s toxic—and Obamacare has become the green jello that always goes untouched at the family reunion.

"Nobody should have to choose between taking their kids to the doctor and putting food on the table," Obama would declare, as if the Affordable Healthcare Act was the answer.  Really? Virtually every report indicates we’ll all be paying more and getting less, putting Americans in real jeopardy.  Obamacare is a "tax" now, remember?

But that’s OK.  As long as Mr. Obama is right.

But he's not right.  And neither are those (Durbin, Pelosi, Reed) who rammed this mess through. Unfortunately, they're not big enough to admit it.  A big person admits the error, apologizes and takes steps to fix the issue.  A small person assumes no responsibility, shifts the blame and does nothing. Where have we seen this before?

Of course, the president attempted to drag the Republicans into the conversation, intimating that, "should they have good ideas, ideas to make Obamacare better", he would listen.  But then he added the law would never be repealed as long as he was president.  Translated: if you stupid Republicans bite on my invitation I’ll take anything you say and use it against you.  And you know he would.

And by the way, aren’t these the same Republicans he wouldn’t talk to, meet with, be seen with, but always had time to demagogue when speaking before his arranged Obama-friendly crowds?  I believe it is the same group.

At the end of the day Obama wants all Americans to see this issue “his way” and move along.  Just shut up, cut me a check and vote Democrat because we Dems know a better way---and you’re going to pay for it.  You always have.

Obamacare is the turd in the bean dip.  Obamacare is the guy in the turban at the party no one will chat with.  Obamacare is the lazy, unemployed brother-in-law asleep in your recliner.

We’re all about to become the poster children for Obamacare.  And should that happen we can point the finger of blame at many. But in our hearts we’ll know we let it happen.

Get active. Confront your elected officials. If you’re too lazy to do it for yourself, do it for your kids and grandkids. They deserve better.

We can’t sit idly by and let this great country be taken down by a collection of left-wing-never-worked-a-day-at-a-real-job-idealists.  They need to go—our country needs to grow.
