He “tweets”. He, being Jesse Jackson, took the time from his busy day to tweet the following: “Praying for the family of Chris Lane. This senseless violence is frowned upon and the justice system must prevail.”
Christopher Lane of Melbourne, Australia, was murdered in Duncan, Oklahoma last Friday. The three black youths accused of the murder killed Lane because, as one put it, “they were bored.” Lane, 22, was jogging in the neighborhood of alleged killers, Chancey Luna, 16 and James Edwards Jr. 15. Michael Jones, 17, has been charged with using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and with accessory to first-degree murder.
And so one of the great leaders in the black community, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, found the time to “tweet.” And that was it. Al Sharpton? AWOL as usual. Had the role had been reversed I’m sure we would had to have endured more of Mr. Sharpton. And Barack “Trayvon” Obama? Mr. Obama is pretty busy spreading the gospel of “get even with whitey” right now. No time to address this horrible crime. That would be beneath him.
Is there a racist component here somewhere? Let’s see; 3 black kids kill an un-armed white guy and the usually vocal black leaders of the country remain silent? Must be a little color blind here.
Of course the press will have a grand time with this tragedy. They’ll dress up the thugs in question as “black youths without work” and “a product of a dysfunctional society”, and then they’ll do another follow up on what a racist George Zimmerman is. Don’t’ bet against it.
But Strawman, you have to recognize Jackson’s “tweet” for what it is. It’s a heartfelt attempt to reach out to the country and show some genuine compassion for the victim and his family.
No it’s not. It’s a half-hearted attempted by a professional race baiter who was catching some heat from a few bloggers. Had the “where’s Jackson, Sharpton and Obama” question not come up, we would have never heard from him.
What I would like to see is this; the next time, and there will be a next time, there is white on black crime and America’s most recognized racist trio attempt to step in front of a camera and puke out some hate someone in the press corps tells them to shut the hell up. No mic, no camera, no action and nothing from you, sir. Just close up the soup coolers and step away before you get some on you.
In life you can either be the problem or the solution. Jackson, Sharpton and Obama: problems or solutions?
And the answer is?
