Let's just move to an all volunteer FD, you're paying for it. You get what you pay for so you decide and have the city council accede to your wishes.

Nice, you attack me personally to get your opinion across. Bodies fight fires not buildings. FF's spend large portions of their shifts away from their stations, doing inspections, hydrant testing, equipment testing and maintenance, public education, training and other duties. Not all fires are down the block from fire stations. In an ideal world Quincy would have more fire stations, more FF's…

Response time although important, it's not the most important factor for FF safety or public safety. If the FD shows up with inadequate personnel they can't put out the fire or perform victim rescue without putting both victim and FF lives in jeopardy.

Suspect in Hannibal shooting arrested

Detectives with the Hannibal Police Department arrested Martez D. Peete at approximately 2:00 p.m. Monday, in connection with the January 28th shooting in the 400 block of N. Arch.

Detectives developed information that Peete was hiding at a residence in Mexico, Mo. Hannibal Detectives located Peete at the residence, hiding in an attic.

Peete was arrested without incident and placed in the Marion County Jail on a Parole Violation detainer and a 24 hour hold pending warrants from the shooting.

Hannibal Detectives were assisted with the arrest by officers of the Mexico Department of Public Safety.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

At approximately 6:55 p.m. Monday night, Officers of the Hannibal Police Department responded to a shooting in the 400 block of N. Arch. The victim, a 38 year old black male, from Kansas City Mo, was struck twice and is being treated at Blessing Hospital in Quincy IL. The victims wounds do not appear to be life threatening. The suspect identified to police is 25 year old Martez D. Peete, of Hannibal.
