Strawman: The Election is About Child Abuse

Strawman: The Election is About Child Abuse

There are a lot of reasons, rhetoric and ramifications pertaining to the upcoming election, but the one I’ve yet to hear about is child abuse.  “What? Child abuse?  I thought this election was a vote against Obama—back to the American way—capitalism full speed ahead and all that?” questioned the good Conservative.

“Wait now,” countered the Liberal.  “We’re all about women’s rights, abortion, birth control, the middle class, sharing the wealth, growing together –and all that.  Oh, and did I add, if you don’t vote for Obama you’re a racist?”

Lefty and Righty are both correct as neither platform directly mentions child abuse, because it’s been hidden in the political landscape amongst budgets, tax cuts, deficit spending and the like.  The Federal Deficit is child abuse.  And the abusers in Washington wear nice clothes, have capped teeth and fabricate one lie after another.  We know them as Republicans and Democrats.

This country is, as of last week, 16 trillion dollars in debt.  And you and I are on the hook for it.  Every man, woman and child is walking around owing 50k to somebody.  That’s our “fair share”, thank you very much.  And so far, no one has addressed that issue.

Got kids, grand kids?  Take a look at them and ask yourself this question; what did I do to help them have a better future than it looks like they’re going to have now?  Did I continue to buy into the beltway propaganda that’s dished out-did I choose to just shrug (or schruggg as the Obama’s pronounce the word) and go along to get along? Am I too busy to look at what’s happening around me and get pissed about this mess we’re in?

If you’re expecting the current Washington beltway types to fix this, don’t—because they got theirs and don’t care about the mess they’ve left behind.  And that’s both parties—Boehner, McConnel, Pelosi, Durbin, Harry Reid—all of them.  And anyone who voted for Obamacare is really guilty of child abuse.

So let’s not spend a lot of time worrying about this convention or what Mitt said, or what Mr. Obama did on the campaign trail.  Get out those pictures of your grandchildren and ask yourself—which one of these guys running for President has the guts and knowledge to attack the debt issue and put this country back to work?

These are your children—these are your grandchildren. Your time is up. But we can still get the ball rolling to leave this place better than we found it.  And it all starts today.
