Strawman: The Democrats Are Worth a Look

Strawman: The Democrats Are Worth a Look

9 months, 1 week ago

Last week I asked you to view Obama's America 2016. Obviously some of you did.   As of Tuesday the documentary is closing in on the 20 million dollar mark.  Not bad for a film that was rolled out with virtually no advertising budget and shown in a limited number of theaters in its first week.

This week I ask that you take some time out and view the Democratic National Convention.  C-SPAN is option 1, YOUTUBE is quicker.

Tuesday night I was enthralled by the line-up provided by the Democrats.  There I was, in my Strawman kitchen, cleaning up after another meal of hamburger helper and Tang, when who should appear, but the Merry Old Elf, Pat Quinn.  Good Old Pat was there in front of the camera (and the welfare crowd that had been bussed in to fill the empty seats) to explain all the things those mean, nasty Republicans had left out of their convention.  He delivered the message like you might speak to someone around the age of 6—speaking slowly, and distinctly as he spun one fictional tale after another.  Go to youtube—it’s worth a look.

And then along came—wait for it--- Harry Reid!!  Pat Quinn and Harry Reid on the same undercard—wow!!  I was a little disappointed with the message Mr. Reid delivered as it was more of the “Romney won’t provide us with tax returns” and “that Romney guy continues to hide from the people he says he wants to lead,” stuff.   I found this to be pretty weak cheese even from the corpse from Nevada.

The parade continued with the Democratic Ladies of Congress lead by former Speaker of House, Nancy Pelosi, taking the stage.  She, you guessed it, just gushed about Obamacare and what a wonderful job Mr. Obama is doing to lead the country!!  I didn’t see that one coming.  They were followed by headliners Ken Salazar, Kathleen Sebelius, a video of former President Jimmy Carter, Cory Booker, Deval Patrick, and Rahm Emanuel.  The evening’s entertainment was topped off by America’s First Lady, Michelle Obama.  When this cadre wasn’t re-writing history, and asking for Romney to produce his tax returns they were, straight from David Axelrod’s talking points, urging the viewer to understand that the current Obama administration just needed more time to move America Forward.

Forward to where, over the fiscal cliff?  It’s really funny how the national debt eclipsed the 16 trillion dollar mark on the eve of the convention. It’s funny how we’re staring at black unemployment over 14%, and unemployment overall at 8.3%. And I was in stiches this past weekend when paying $3.85 for a gallon of gas.  (now it’s up to $3.99)

This group in Charlotte may be kidding themselves, but they’re not kidding those of us in the middle class.  We don’t need them to feel our pain.  We feel it every day we have to figure out how we’re going to keep more of our income, cut our expenses (again) and put food on the table.

Can somebody in Charlotte address those issues this week—or will they be too busy talking about abortion, class warfare, and Paul Ryan’s haircut?  Stay tuned……....
