Strawman: It's Just Recess......

Don’t worry. If we stay real quiet and don’t make any loud noises the beast in the White House will leave us alone.

That had to be the thought of both the Democrats and Republicans in Washington last week.

I waited a few days after the President appointed Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau—just to see how many Democrats, if any, would comment on the President’s latest stunt.  And the answer is—just one:  Harry Reid. What a surprise.

The usual suspects, Dick Durbin among them, kept an uncharacteristically low profile on this issue.  If you can’t say something nice (or there aren’t any conservatives to bash), why say anything? Sure, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) added his usual ‘the Republicans suck and yada-yada, and the liberal press trotted out some figures about how both Reagan and Bush 43 did just the same thing a number of times stuff—but they have all that saved in the “hey, we gotcha again file”, so there really wasn’t much of an effort put forth there either.

Depending on who or what you read, Cordray’s appointment, and three others named to the National Labor Relations Board, was legal/illegal—flew in the face of Congress—makes Congress that much more impotent—is a bad thing for the country—is a good thing for the country—was the right thing to do—and on and on.

What hasn’t been addressed is the fact that with Cordray’s appointment, Obama anointed another czar AND created another new government agency. Yep, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is brand new, right out of the box, courtesy of the President. Batteries not included, some assembly required.

And you have to like this: as the CFPB's first head, Cordray would create precedents, define procedures -- and would do so without ever answering a question from Congress.

And you thought that right belonged only to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Silly taxpayer you!!

Obama stuck it to Congress again. But this time he spared no one.  Because this President doesn’t recognize either party,  Congress, the Constitution or anything you and I hold dear to our hearts.

And you think a Republican will be the next President?  Folks, you ain’t seen nothing yet……
