Strawman: Benghazi-A Figment of Your Imagination

I guess the incident in Libya either didn’t happen or wasn’t important enough for NBC News to give it much coverage Wednesday night.  Rarely do I watch the main stream media of an evening, but Wednesday I thought, “what the heck,” and so I did.

What I witnessed for the first 5:41 on NBC was a country setting in which Brian Williams all but held hands with President Obama.  It was so sweet; the two of them there, hay bales in the foreground, Old Glory in the back ground, positioned just to the right of Mr. Obama’s head.  A beautiful set if I do say so myself.  Williams, with his anchor’s jaw set, head tilted, asked what he thought were tough questions only to have the President swat them aside as one would remove a fly on a warm autumn evening.  The President as he would say, “was fired up”, and no answers would be surrendered without a menacing glance, a snarky, Joe Biden-like smirk, even to NBC. It was game time and Obama had them sneakers laced up tight.

NBC managed to avoid reporting the most recent developments in Benghazi—you know—the ones where emails to the White House during the attack on 9/11/12 indicate that SOMEONE, if not EVERYONE up the chain of command was aware that the @$@%@ was hitting the fan, and they not only knew about it, they were watching it happen.  I guess that’s not news.  Well, it wasn’t to NBC, as they didn’t get around to even mentioning the story until 11 minutes into the newscast.  And then they asked the hapless Andrea Mitchell to report on the story—which she did for 92 seconds.  And that was it.  All better now.  Mean ol’ cover-up all gone.  Nothing to see here….absolutely nothing.

And that, my friends, while not surprising to me one little bit, solidifies the position I’ve had for years.  That being; the liberal press, no matter how hard they try (or in this case DON’T try) won’t ever gain the respect or viewership of those of us who refuse to be lied to.   You’ve done it; gone to a particular restaurant for years—gotten a few bad meals—experienced some lousy customer service—and so you say, “that’s it, I’m out.”  And you don’t go back.  That’s where I’m at with NBC and the rest of the alphabet networks.

The fact is, and we knew this all along, the White House, State Department and countless others knew this deal was going down in Benghazi on 9/11 and they stood by and let it happen.  They let 4 Americans die, and a couple of dozen others be beaten and wounded—and all the administration did was apologize.   And, to make matters worse, they collectively concocted a tale about some anti-Muslim video—and then they peddled this story around for over a month.  And then---- they said they didn’t—that you and I didn’t understand what they said—and were fools to believe that they—THE most transparent administration in this country’s history could be implicated in a cover-up this devious.

And that’s why I’m betting every bit of this stuff is true.  Because lying is what this administration does.  And it’s been going on for almost 4 years. 

Let’s help put an end to that on November 6th.  And let’s hope that, should we get the bottom of this incident, justice will be served on those who failed those 4 poor victims on September 11th, and we Americans, most importantly, the families who lost loved ones, get the closure we deserve.
