Quincy Police issued more than twice as many speeding tickets last month
Traffic accidents in the City of Quincy were significantly lower last month when compared to June of 2011, but arrests for speeding more than doubled.
According to the Quincy Police Department’s monthly traffic and enforcement report, there were 88 total accidents in June 2012. There were 108 accidents in June 2011.
But QPD handed out 72 speeding tickets last month, more than doubling the 33 issued in June 2011.
The year to date totals show 567 accidents so far in 2012, which is down from the 592 accidents during the first six months of 2011.
The statistics on speeding arrests are almost identical in the year to date numbers, with 379 tickets issued during the first six months of this year and 375 issued during the first half of 2011.
