Sen. Sullivan home after cancer surgery

State Senator John Sullivan (D – Rushville) has returned to his home in Rushville after a successful surgery to remove a rare but highly treatable type of cancer.

“I’m thrilled to be home with my family and friends,” Sullivan said. “It takes time to fully recuperate from this type of surgery, but I feel good and am looking forward to being back at work for the people of western Illinois.”

According to a news release, Sullivan's doctor says there is no further treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation required at this time. Although still healing from his surgery, he is expected to make a full and complete recovery.
