See you totally missed the whole point on the Roman Empire. It was that your whole argument on pensions is that it is some unholy alliance between unions and politicians. I am pointing out that Police/Military pensions (and the founding and idea of it) go back that far (Roman Empire- some form of it has been in effect since that time). Group is responsible for handing out transportation project dollars

U.S. Rep. Sam Graves reportedly is expected to be named the next chairman of the committee tasked with overseeing the country's highway system.

Graves, R-Mo., is in line to take over the Highways and Transit Subcommittee at the beginning of 2015, sources told the Daily Beast, although a spokesman for Graves told the news source that they were "not aware" of any commitment related to the post.

Graves would replace Rep. Tom Petri (R-Wis.), who previously announced that he would step down after his current term. The chairman of the highways subcommittee is responsible for overseeing efforts to funnel billions of dollars into transportation projects.
