Plane crash sends pilot to hospital

A crop-spraying plane crashed into a corn field Monday

A plane crash in Hancock County sent a pilot to the hospital Monday afternoon.

Sheriff Scott Bentzinger said a crop-spraying plane was trying to take off northeast of Carthage when it crashed into a corn field at around 4 p.m.

The pilot was transported by Air Evac to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

His name and condition are not being released at this time.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
