ONCEMORE1 - Yard waste stickers a no-go - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com
Lower costs? Fewer pickups? Lower salary? The same trucks, running the same routes because some people will still be putting yard waste out. And if you think City workers will cut their own paid hours because of fewer pickups, you're delusional.

He's been contemplating his decision for the last several months while spending his time in Sarasota, Florida and still collecting his $180,000....very smart man to get away with that and still have the Board President say he's great!

If I were a betting man.... I would bet that the city council on Monday does not pass the budget. it will be like 9-5 opposed. Then a special council meeting on Thursday to try and pass a budget on Friday.

You're 100% right that it would change what some people do, including - it seems - yourself. And do you know what that would result in? Lower costs to the city. Fewer pick-ups due to people doing it themselves means lower vehicle maintenance. Lower salary expense due to decreased hours. Yes, some people would stop using the service, which reduces the EXPENSE of providing that service. The point…

Again with the crazy talk..... The working person is the blame? And what do you mean not his budget? You read the short article right?

Brian...everybody knows who you are.

chebby79 - Yard waste stickers a no-go - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

it would not have generated $500k anyway. at $2.50 a sticker, folks would change what they do. either haul it down there themselves, or mulch, or compost piles. I recently mowed and had 4 barrels of grass x $2.50 = $10 x 4 weeks = $40 a month. for $40 a month I would change what I do. I'm close enuf tho, so I hauled it to Radio Road site. perhaps, raise the garbage stickers. double the price.…

Good idea, we waste way too much time and resources chasing pot users. Our court systems and law enforcement are tied up in enforcing pot laws when they could be spending their time and resources on real crime. Pot use is no worse than the use of alcohol so we should treat pot the same as we treat alcohol use.

pjohnf - CLEANER AIR WITH RENEWABLE MOTOR FUEL - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

Fine let's work to provide the cleanest air possible but this has nothing to do with climate change which is hoax and a fraud.

Givemeliberty - Killing of Americans Deepens Debate Over Use of Drone Strikes - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

Its funny, not sure why it took these two men for this to come to the forefront, but Obama's drone strikes have been killing countless women and children, Americans, urban areas, and weddings have been bombed.

Givemeliberty - Killing of Americans Deepens Debate Over Use of Drone Strikes - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

I understand it doesn't sound like a big deal now considering the Americans being targeted, but I think we are going down a very slippery slope when we allow one man the power to kill Americans without due process. I'm not saying justice shouldn't be done it just scares me to think that we would allow Obama to be Judge Jury and executioner.

Givemeliberty - Illinois moves to ban red-light cameras statewide - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

I was really surprised to hear this in Illinois of all places, for once I can agree with the state gov as a whole. These are nothing more than revenue generators, and studies have been unable to show an increase in traffic safety.

Givemeliberty - Bruce Rauner\'s budget cuts slash social services - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

I wholeheartedly agree that the criminal should be compensating the victim, but I wouldn't stop there. They should also be paying for room and board, healthcare, food, ect while we house them. They (when practical depending on the criminal) could be on a work release program, in a full wage job putting the majority of the money they earn first to compensate the victim then working to pay off…

Givemeliberty - Yard waste stickers a no-go - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com

Can't shut down a fire station, can't cut police, can't go private with trash, can't raise trash stickers to proper price after its decided not to go private, can't charge for yard waste, just read a sob story in this mornings rag about cutting transit. We all know what will happen if you want to raise taxes. The most maddening thing about politics is not the politicians…

qfingers - Quincy Mayor, Police & Fire Chiefs disagree over proposed budget cuts - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJour

Well now, there's some constructive criticism.... Changing anything is hard...I'm glad there's not the "herd" mentality of blindly following the mayor. Unfortunately it leads to squeaky wheel politics where some small, vocal minority sways opinion. And this isn't Congress where everybody gets strong armed into voting the party line. I don't think there's ever been a…

WarCry - Quincy Mayor, Police & Fire Chiefs disagree over proposed budget cuts - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJour

I think you're wrong, the problem here is the city council. They're not willing to make hard choices that HAVE to be made. The city is going to lose a ton of money of the state follows through with their plan to cut funding, and if the city loses money, they have to do one of two things - and more likely both of them: Cuts spending/services and/or increase revenue from residents to make up…
