I don't understand why the mayor wanting his vote on record is a bad thing. Transparency is the new thing for politics, right? Some might want to be slippery and two faced, but statesmanship more than political deception seems like a good thing. Accountability, not plausible deniability, is what voters should expect, as I see it.

This is basically the school board telling Maas, Waterkoette, Schlipmann, and Bleigh Construction that they're a bunch of idiots that can't biuld a damn thing. Schlipmann just build a beautiful dorm for QU, Maas built almost the entire JWCC campus and 1st Bankers Trust building. Waterkoette and Bleigh are more than qualified. I really can't think of a bigger insult to our local…

According to another news source, he has no money, period. A lower bond would do no good because he won't be able to make that. The trial delays are essentially because of lack of funds to pay his attorneys to mount his defense.

That's the thing, PDS. Even though it can seem like a wasteful/rubber-stamp process, the courts are REQUIRED TO assess whether people are fit BEFORE they can stand trial. The process might seem like a waste of money (because yes it seems like a formality when so few defendants are ever deemed "unfit" to stand trial), but it is a basic procedural step -- just like allowing the accused to hire…

I think Lovelace deserves a bond he can make. Took em some 8 years to file charges, why not grant him bond? He ain't no flight risk, where the hell would he go? What's he gonna do, pull an OJ and drive an SUV 10 mph down I-72 with one of his U of I football buddies? For crying out loud give him a bond he can make. And I'm 100% impartial, not in any of the camps, victim or defendant!!

Has anyone around here ever been deemed "unfit" to stand trial?. Fitness for trial is a very minimal criteria, according to a good authority on the subject (the dude that provides the assessment services for the court). Don't know why they even bother with checking into to it, waste of taxpayers money.

For sure, he's waiting to see the best deal for the Union. He was high up in the Plumbers Union at Celotex before they closed. Tried to bump the boys at the Vets' home after that... That didn't work, but he still weaseled himself into a $76,000 yr position there, that I'm not sure how he was qualified, but that's the Union difference, I guess.

You can actually look at the Public School retirement on there its just in a separate section. Some pretty large numbers in that one to be sure. $17,000 per month ain't bad if you can get for watching the price is right in your underwear but that is what the system calls for that we as taxpayers allowed to be put in place. There is also one person on there that has been retired since 1973!!!!…

Has The Deuce thought about moseying down to City Hall to examine the health insurance plan documents to familiarize himself on the matter at hand? Will The Deuce be one week smarter (on this subject) after the seven-day delay? Is The Deuce still waiting for his marching orders from the affected unions? Ah, but keep in mind that patience is a virtue so we must go easy on The Deuce while we breathlessly…

You want to see something interesting take a look at the workers compensation section. It will give you the whole sate but you can filter to just Quincy. Interesting if you sort it by dollar value descending you will see Mark Fuqua "Fell" at work and got $107,000 in 2011 and by mere coincidence Deborah Fuqua "fell" at work and got $100,000 in 2007. Things that make you go hmmmm.....

Its not that hard once you sign up to do the filter yourself. Look for Adams County, City of Quincy, Quincy School District and Quincy Park District.
