I do believe Bud has sworn to vote no on all expenditures until QPS does a forensic audit. I seem to remember reading that before... http://www.qps.org/files/board/Minutes_201011/042...

His supporters also don't see the people who whisper in his ear all the time. He is being used by some people who have an ax to grind against the school district but don't have the stones to run for the board or publicly press their vendettas. You almost have to have pity on the man. In the south, everything they would say about a guy like Bud would be prefaced or followed by "Bless his…

Here's some math for you just for fun...just building costs...not operating costs. New jail $37M -- apparently they last about 65 years. # of inmates ~84 Cost per year $569,231 Cost per inmate per year $6,777 Cost per inmate per day $18.57 Cost per person per year for Adams County population -- $8.47

Bud is incapable of understanding most of the issues, so he feels it is best to abstain or vote no. I don't think there is much rational to his actions other than he gets a pat on the back from the folks that support him. I don't think he has brought forth a solution or innovative idea in years, he just fills the chair. Frankly its sad to watch him during the meetings, but his supporters…

Hokey Pokey ... ha, that's right. These guys put their toe in the waters of phony campaign imaging, but when it comes to big money influence, these two are sharks.

I understand why people vote for him. They do not want an increase to any funding for the school district. I just don't understand how people think he is doing anything good for schools. I don't recall him EVER bringing a new idea or plan for the district that could help or change things. Unfortunately as his vote totals show, he is a replica of many people in our community.

Everyone knows Bud is the "people's champion". Vote "no" on everything, then you'll get re-elected every time. No need to read things, no need to understand things, no need to research things, no hard decisions to make.

That will not make a dent in a new jail.

Yes another need may arise but the sunset must be in it. We have to pay for some things, like a county jail, when they're needed and a new jail is needed. Good grief don't you think you should pay for something, there's no money fairy out there to pay for things a community needs from time to time?

Very impressed with Andy! Keep up the solid work.

If that's the way you interpret the statement then, frankly, you're an idiot. Look at all the stories about arrests for meth busts, over and over again, the same names. They don't give them more jail time partially because they don't have anywhere to put them. The crimes don't rise to the level of state prison, and we have no room at the county level. You think it's…

Build it on the current parking lot for the court house. No Transportation needed. ... Property already owned... build an underground parking lot to allow for safer transport of prisoners rather than the back door the sheriff referenced and the elevator they would have to use to get people up to the court room, they could design a better and larger elevator with a cage to keep staff save from drunk…

ReardenShrugged - Adams County Board to vote on quarter cent sales tax to build jail - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal

The way I interpret "our jail no longer meets modern day needs" is "we need a new jail so we can further grow the incarcerated population, our police force, and government power while shrinking everyone's liberty and taxpayer pocket books." We may need a new jail just due to the age and safety but it shouldn't be any larger than the current one since our county population hasn't grown,…
