REBEL MEDIA: Political experts...or not

I'm still a bit stunned by a conversation I had this morning.

I was meeting with someone and discussing an advertising strategy for a political campaign. I was told by a Republican that other Republicans around Quincy were saying don't bother advertising with QuincyJournal/WTAD because the people who patronize those mediums are already going to vote Republican...preaching to the choir, if you will.

Now, I heard this last fall from someone who fancied themselves a political savant although I've never known that the person who made the remark had ever been on the winning end of a campaign. Since I believed that person to be, as we say back home in Missouri "all hat and no cattle", I didn't give it much credence.

But I've heard it now from a couple of different people and I just can't figure it out.

I do believe I have seen Republican ads on Fox News. I also believe we've had Democrats and Republicans advertise on this site with some winning and some losing. I understand people get their asses chapped when the run a stupid campaign, but that's not my fault.

We have hundreds of thousands of pageviews a month. Our unique visitor total is higher than the city's population. People read the site.

If you don't think that's the case, I'll gladly prove you wrong.
