Lauded for his efforts? He was a full-time firefighter who attended half the practices and ran a very unorganized program. Several key players quit during his tenure as coach. Those were some of his problems.

So when this is brought back up before the city council, since it did not pass before, does it need a super-majority to pass? I wonder what the rules are on this procedurally?

As should be. I don't see it being the end if the world, just put off a week. Little egg on the face, but, when doesn't that happen from time to time.

Reluctant to say the emperor wears no clothes perhaps? You would think the more experienced aldermen would have caught this. This is so infrequent though doesn't surprise me that nobody noticed at first.

Dear Editor:

Mayor Moore’s proposal to increase the sticker price to by an extra dollar to $1.50 has caused a significant amount of dissent amongst Quincy residents. Additionally, he wants to charge people like me who have opted to use a private waste company a 5 percent city tax to cover the deficit in the city’s public waste program.  This is not a flat tax equally implemented across the board. Individuals using a private waste hauler are being unfairly singled out and forced to pay into a service we’re not utilizing.

I chose to contract with a private waste hauler because I want efficient and dependable service at a fair cost. I already help subsidize the city’s garbage collection program through the property taxes I pay – why should I have to pay an additional tax. It is my recommendation that Mayor Moore and the city council do what’s fair for all Quincy residents and drop their plan to increase fees and force another tax on their constituents.

Sincerely,

Brian Reed
