Quincy School Board President Bill Daniels called Thursday night's special Board meeting "the first step in a journey."
The Board met for about an hour in a planning meeting with School Exec Connect, the firm that's been hired to help guide the superintendent search for the District.
Ed Olds and Diane Robertson of the search firm discussed with Board members an overview of the process, including a tentative calendar.
It's everyone's hope the search will begin next week with a letter being distributed to staff members and community members explaining the process. Advertising will begin before community input forums are held. An online survey for the community will be posted for about two weeks and officials hope to have a clear candidate profile by the end of September.
The timeline ends in December with contract negotiations.
The five-question survey Board members themselves will fill out, in addition to giving their input to Olds and Robertson, asks: list your District's three greatest strengths or attributes, list your District's greatest challenges and barriers, list the three most important goals for your District to achieve in the next three years, describe the three most important characteristics/skills the next superintendent needs to possess to be successful and what questions/areas would you like the Board members to consider as they select the next superintendent.
The only official action taken Thursday was the Board unanimously agreed to put a $3,000 cap on advertising the position.
