The board met in closed session on Saturday

The Quincy Public School Board met in closed session Saturday to interview potential superintendent candidates.

School Board President Bill Daniels said three candidates were interviewed.

The school board met with different finalists late last year but couldn't come to terms with a new district leader.

Therefore, the board restarted its national search for a new superintendent.

Former superintendent Lonny Lemon resigned last year to take a position with a suburban Chicago school district in Arlington Heights.

Cal Lee currently serves as the district's interim superintendent.

This past week QPS Assistant Superintendent Trish Viniard accepted the superintendent position at the LaGrange-Highland School District 106 in suburban Chicago. She'll begin her job there July 1.

An additional special meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 22nd at 5:30.
