Cape Air needs to average about 50 more passengers a month for the airport to qualify for a $1 million federal subsidy
Cape Air needs to average about 50 more passengers a month over last year's Quincy Regional Airport boarding numbers in order gain a $1 million subsidy from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Passenger boardings continue to trend upward and are running 10 percent ahead of YTD numbers of 2011 and 36 percent ahead of YTD 2010 boardings.
The 874 number of enplanements in July matches the May 2012 amount and is the second highest monthly count since there were 911 passengers in December of 2011 and since Cape Air began operations at the Quincy Regional Airport in November of 2009.
"We remain optimistic that we will reach 10,000 enplanements by year’s end that will qualify the City for $1 million of Federal Grant money that can be used for Capital Infrastructure and Safety Improvement Projects at the Quincy Regional Airport," said Interim Airport Manager Jeff Steinkamp.
