The Quincy Public Schools Foundation has received a new $20,000 Circle of Investment.
The Randal Hoover Memorial Fund will go toward music camp scholarships for students who can’t afford to attend otherwise.
Randy was a 1995 QHS graduate who started playing drums in 4th grade at Baldwin School and continued through Junior and Senior high. Randy’s mother, Joyce Hoover-Clelland, said "Randy always loved music and started when they all do in 4th grade at Baldwin School. I remember the day he came home and said, 'Well Mom, I can either play the violin or the drums. I think I would rather play the drums."’
Randy died following a car accident in 1998. When Randy’s family decided that music camp scholarships would be a good idea because Randy always enjoyed his trips to music camps. His family liked the fact that this could help some deserving music students who might not otherwise get to go to camp.
Quincy Public Schools Foundation’s Circles of Investments currently has 35 circles and in 2012, Circles provided $25,000 to district schools.
