So this law is just making business owners waste their time interviewing someone they won't hire. Great way to bring business to the state. This is just another liberal ploy to get some more votes.

Or, ya know, you could read the article instead of reacting to the headline. Criminal background checks are NOT being banned, they're available after the interview rather than before. Which is exactly what employers have done with me in the past, because they don't want to spend the money on the background check if they don't think they want to hire you anyway.

Great ...... for the "privilege" of being a business owner, I no longer have the right to make my own decision about giving a criminal a second chance. Second chances are required BY LAW. The bar is set just high enough to trip over in this state.

Of course not. If we still encouraged personal responsibility and people still knew shame and pride, the number would be much lower. It also doesn't help that the schools push people to sign up for the free and reduced lunch programs because the higher the percentage in those programs, the more money they receive from the state for telecommunications services. Brandon Thomas was found dead early Tuesday morning in Peoria

From pjstar.com:

Peoria police are targeting two South Peoria gangs in the Don’t Shoot campaign after a rash of violence left three men dead and at least one wounded since Friday.

Brandon L. Thomas, 25, of Quincy is the city’s latest homicide victim. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday after being found behind a house in the 1500 block of Howett Street.

Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard spoke to reporters Tuesday afternoon. He vowed a swift response to the shootings, saying his department would flood the neighborhood where they occurred to put out the growing “brush fire.” And the chief said meetings were planned with other police departments, along with federal and state prosecutors, to determine what the next step would be to combat the violence.

He warned people in the area that they will see more police and could possibly be stopped as officers step up their patrols, but said it was temporary and only to protect the community.
