Suspect in northside beating, stabbing turns himself in

Three men allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old Quincy man Sunday night


On Tuesday,  John Mims came to Quincy Police Department headquarters and turned himself in for the warrant on the Home Invasion and Aggravated Battery incident that occurred Sunday night at the Bel Aire Motel.

Mims, who is 21 and from Kirksville, Mo., is in the Adams County Jail. Police say the Investigation continuing.

Quincy Police are looking for three men who allegedly beat and stabbed a man at a northside motel.

At 11:45 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the Bel-Aire Motel, 2314 North 12th, in reference to a fight. Upon arrival, they found three subjects had kicked in the motel room door then struck the victim numerous times with baseball bats.

One of the subjects also stabbed the victim several times with a knife. The victim, a 21 year old Quincy man, had several stab wounds along with numerous bruises and abrasions. He was treated and released at Blessing Hospital.

The investigation is still under way. Police have yet to release a full description of the suspects.
