Grants would be issued for infrastructure and other economic development needs

The Quincy City Council heard a first reading on a plan to change the City’s Revolving Loan fund to allow the city to fund grants for economic development projects.

Quincy Director of Planning Chuck Bevelheimer said the two funds each have more than $1 million. Bevelheimer said there would be a cap of $300,000 for the grants for infrastructure and other economic development needs.

The ordinance is scheduled for two more readings before aldermen vote.

Quincy Mayor John Spring said that the final number of boardings at Quincy Regional Airport ended up at 10,120 passengers for 2012. Dr. Scott Bloss was the 10,000th passenger to board on Saturday morning.
