Lower costs? Fewer pickups? Lower salary? The same trucks, running the same routes because some people will still be putting yard waste out. And if you think City workers will cut their own paid hours because of fewer pickups, you're delusional.

If I were a betting man.... I would bet that the city council on Monday does not pass the budget. it will be like 9-5 opposed. Then a special council meeting on Thursday to try and pass a budget on Friday.

You're 100% right that it would change what some people do, including - it seems - yourself. And do you know what that would result in? Lower costs to the city. Fewer pick-ups due to people doing it themselves means lower vehicle maintenance. Lower salary expense due to decreased hours. Yes, some people would stop using the service, which reduces the EXPENSE of providing that service. The point…

Arrest/Traffic- Jaqueline M. Garcia (20) of Trenton IL was arrested for improper driving at 20th and Chestnut on 10/5/12.

Burglary/Residence- Birdgett L. Holland of 1115 No. 5th reports that someone entered her apartement and stole electronic items sometime between 9/29 and 9/30/12.

Criminal Damage- James E. Shelton of 2719 Windy Hill Rd. reports the damage to a shed at 613 Chestnut on 9/28/12. 

Arrest- Michael T. Owsley, 636 Chestnut, for Improper Lane Usage & Operation of Uninsured vehicle at 10th & Locust on 10/8/12 at 1228 hrs.  Owslay was released on D.L. 

Arrest- Sterling Ross, New Port Richie, FL for Drag Racing at 25th & Broadway on 9/24/12 at 1008 hrs.  Ross was released on NTA.

Arrest- Larvette L. Bassett, 523 1/2 N. 6th for Operation of Uninsured vehicle at 27th & Oak on 10/7/12 at 1447 hrs.  Bassett was released on D.L. 

Arrest / Lodged- Brennon L. Bunch, 1114 N. 6th for Domestic Battery at 1114 N. 6th on 10/8/12 at 0822 hrs.  Bunch was lodged.

Criminal Damage/ Vehicle- Jeffrey L. Armstrong, 2912 Marion Dr. reports between 0200 on 9/27 and 1100 on 9/28/12 his 1998 Toyota had the windshield broken and all four tires cut while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence.
