The council decided that cheap garbage and free yard waste was more important that public safety. We got new garbage trucks instead of policemen. These were just a few of the alternatives the mayor offered to fund city government but the "Buds" on the council kept voting NO. There is no FREE LUNCH. No firemen were fired and no policemen were fired so it's not all doom and gloom.

It's Ferguson all over again as the Mayor of Baltimore, who's an idiot, and the Governor stood by as the thugs and criminals went wild. Both knew the situation was going to get out of hand yet they sat on their hands and didn't show any force to stop it before it developed into a full blown riot. The National Guard should have been deployed before the situation deteriorated into chaos.…

I didn't sit on every budget meeting because that's not my job, nor do I have the time too. That's what my tax dollars go to, representation. My alderman voted against this budget, as did five others. So my guess is that others who have sat through everything also feel the way I do.

Well, it seems you have all the answers on how the city should manage it's money. I'm glad to know you sat in on every meeting, including executive sessions, and know where every dollar on every line-item of the budget it going. We need to respect our police, they are the only thing that stands between us and the chaos like they have in Baltimore.

Arrest/Traffic- Albert Crayton McGee (46) of 500 Maine Apt. 501 was arrested for driving while license suspended at 4th and Delaware on 10/10/12.

Criminal Damage- Scott A. Wymer of 2438 Sharon Dr. reports that his 1998 Oldsmobile was damaged while it was parked in his driveway on 10-2-12.

Theft of Services- Justin V. White, 619 S. 7th,  driver for Diamond Cab, reported a black male, 6' tall, 175 lbs, got out of his cab without paying at 0024 hrs of 09/24/12 at 1622 Broadway. 

Arrest- Jeffrey M. Wilson, 22, of 631 1/2 Lind for No Valid DL and Uninsured Motor Vehicle at 6th & Elm on 10-11-12 @ 1107 hours. Released on NTA. 

Arrest- Bridgette E. Mulherin, 41, of 5427 Glencrie for Speeding in a School Zone With Children Present at 32nd & Maine on 10-05-12 @ 0725 hours. Released on NTA.   12-27396           

Arrest- John R. S. Hoffman, 19, of Coatsburg, IL for No Eye Protection and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle at 34th & College on 10-02-12 @ 0720 hours. Released on NTA. 

Arrest- Danny L. Biesterfeld, 51, of 1513 Maas Rd. for Disobeying a Traffic Control Device and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle at 12th & Broadway on 10-02-12 @ 0626 hours. Released on DL. 

Arrest- Lonnie Green, 57, of Payson, IL for Speeding in a School Zone With Children Present at 22nd & Chestnut on 10-02-12 @ 0702 hours. Released on NTA. 

Arrest- Christina M. Brueck, 43, of 1900 Diamond Drive for Failure to Yield Stop Sign at 18th & Melview on 10-10-12 @ 0655 hours. Released on NTA. 

Arrest- Travis P. Miller, 28, of 724 S. 13th for Fighting at his residence on 10-08-12 @ 1515 hours. Released on NTA. 

Arrest- Gary W. Miller, 66, of 2715 Elm for Fighting at 724 S. 13th on 10-08-12 @ 1515 hours. Released on NTA.  

Arrest- Gregg A. Hamilton, 50, of 436 Hickory Grove East for Failure to Yield from Stop Sign at 10th & Chestnut on 10-10-12 @ 1313 hours. Released on NTA.

Arrest- Michael A. Bloodson, 30, of Chicago, IL for FTA - Family Matter at 835 N. 9th on 10-11-12 @ 0846 hours. Released on cash bond.  

Hit & Run- Jenna R. Wells of 2710 Linda Lane reported that an unknown suspect had backed into the rear of her 2005 Dodge while it was parked on the  First Bankers Trust parking lot located at 1201 Broadway sometime between 1330 and 1400 hours on 10-05-12. Wells stated that the rear bumper on her car was damaged.

Theft From Motor Vehicle- Nicholas J. Doellman of 1221 Sycamore reported that an unknown suspect stole the battery from his 1980 Chevy pickup while it was parked at his residence sometime between 2300 hours on 10-05-12 and 0700 hours on 10-06-12. The suspect cut the battery cables and removed the battery.
