Members of each Quincy parish will be asked to contribute funds to the second phase of QND’s Annual Fund Drive, which has a total goal of $411,000

The parishioners of Quincy’s Catholic churches will illustrate their collective dedication and how “We staND for Excellence” in providing secondary Catholic education for families during Quincy Notre Dame High School’s annual Commitment Sunday on March 3rd. Members of each parish will be asked to contribute funds to the second phase of QND’s Annual Fund Drive, which has a total goal of $411,000. The QND Annual Fund has raised over $10 million since 1977.

Celebrating its 36th Anniversary, QND’s Annual Fund Drive helps to finance the school’s daily operations, defray the cost of tuition, and provide financial aid to families.  The cost to educate one QND student is $5,850 with tuition set at $4,800 for the current school year.  The Annual Fund bridges the gap between the cost to educate and tuition.

More than 4,500 Catholic families will hear speeches from QND students during Mass and be asked for pledges and donations on Commitment Sunday. The goal is $146,000 for the parish phase of the campaign, most of which will be collected during Commitment Sunday weekend. Volunteer chair people and workers from each parish assist with the effort to request and receive donations during the weekend and follow up with parishioners to complete the drive and reach the parish goal.

The following individuals are serving as chairs of this year’s Commitment Sunday:

St. Anthony:  Rev. Tom Hagstrom, Shawn and Tina Peters, and Brent and Gina Whelan.

St. Francis:  Rev. Don Blaeser, OFM, Jeff and Cathy Coy, Roger and Camille Donaldson, Shaun and Sue Carey, and Bruce and Theresa Alford.

Blessed Sacrament:  Msgr. Michael Kuse, Jerry and Julie Smith, Shawn and Jennifer Dickerman, and Russ and Anna Hinkamper.

St. Peter:  Rev. Leo Enlow, Randy and Michelle Gengenbacher, Darren and Melissa Brinkley, and Doug and Janie Reed.

The first phase of the QND Annual Fund kicked off on January 18 with volunteers requesting contributions from area businesses, corporations, and industry.  More than $132,000 has been collected to date, representing 67% of phase one’s $198,000 goal.

The National Alumni campaign will begin in April with the annual Alumni Phonathon portion of the drive following May 6-16.
