Foundation has raised nearly $10.5 million over the last 35 years
The Quincy Notre Dame Foundation kicked off its annual fund campaign Friday with a goal of raising $411,000.
Over the past 35 years - the Annual Fund Campaign has raised nearly $10.5 million.
The Campaign this year is being led by Ralph Oakley and Julie Bowen.
Bowen says being a QND graduate makes it easier for her to approach potential donors.
“Because as an alum I’ve lived it, I’ve had the experiences to say what it meant to me, how it’s prepared me for a lot of good things in my life,” said Bowen. “I start off with that to kind of get things going.”
Money raised during the campaign helps make up the difference between the amount of tuition paid and the actual cost of educating students at QND.
Bowen says with the state of the economy and enrollment growing at QND, raising $411,000 will be a big challenge.
“I’ve always been amazed, and last year, being co-chair for my first time, it was just absolutely astounding to me to see how people pulled together to support QND,” said Bowen. “I was so impressed and appreciative.”
The business phase of the campaign is already underway.
The parish phase, known as QND Commitment Sunday, will be held on March 3.
And the final phase- the annual alumni Phon-a-thon will be held
between May 6 and 16th.
