Lauren Bock says she'll pay off student loans, pay off her car and, maybe take a vacation
A soda stop turned into a life-changing moment for one 22-year-old Palmyra woman. Lauren Bock added a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket to her purchase that held a $100,000 top prize. Bock bought the winning “$100,000 Crossword” ticket at Wilco Fast Break, 887 Marion City Road in Palmyra, on Jan. 8.
“I went up to the gas station to get something to drink, and I just wanted to play a couple Scratchers,” began Bock. “I like crosswords, so that’s what I got.
“I just like crosswords in general. It takes a long time, keeps me busy. And I won $100,000 on one, so that’s pretty cool.”
She scratched the ticket at home and thought she won $5,000. She took it back to the store and had them check the ticket. The clerk thought she won $10,000, but after checking the ticket again, Bock found another word she had missed before, bringing the total prize amount to $100,000. She raced to her boyfriend’s house to share the news.
“I’m going to pay off some existing student loans and pay off my vehicle,” Bock suggested. “And then maybe take a vacation.”
The money will come in handy since Bock is looking for full-time employment. She indicated she might save a little back for a down-payment on a home, and she’ll continue to play the Lottery.
“You won’t win unless you play,” she declared.
