One lane blocked on third street due to water main break

Water is gushing near the Quincy Development Center

As of 4:55 this morning, crews are on the scene of a water main break near downtown Quincy.

One lane of southbound one way traffic on 3rd street near Oak Street is blocked.

Water is gushing from the ground near the Quincy Development Center.

The water is freezing over the pavement and sidewalks because of the cold temperatures.

A boil order has been issued for Quincy customers living on 3rd street from Elm to Oak streets and College street from 2nd to 4th streets.

Water interruptions are expected in that area for the next five to seven hours.
