New downtown parking lot could be open next week

New lot is on the 600 block of Hampshire

The reconstruction of parking lot "I," which is the lot on the southside of the 600 block  ofHampshire, is right on schedule.

The concrete has been completed and striping will begin Monday.

Executive Director of the Historic Quincy Business District Travis Brown said, “Good weather has helped the reconstruction and without any hiccups, the lot could be open as early as the end of next week.”

“Restaurants in that area of downtown Quincy, such as ONE and Talayna’s, have said they are slower than they were before, but everybody has been very understanding and very patient," said Brown.

When discussing future parking lot improvements downtown, Brown said, "Obviously with the timing of this lot getting done, there won't be
anything until 2013. As long as things stay the way that they're looking, the first parking project in 2013 should be the 6th and Jersey lot."
