The council decided that cheap garbage and free yard waste was more important that public safety. We got new garbage trucks instead of policemen. These were just a few of the alternatives the mayor offered to fund city government but the "Buds" on the council kept voting NO. There is no FREE LUNCH. No firemen were fired and no policemen were fired so it's not all doom and gloom.

It's Ferguson all over again as the Mayor of Baltimore, who's an idiot, and the Governor stood by as the thugs and criminals went wild. Both knew the situation was going to get out of hand yet they sat on their hands and didn't show any force to stop it before it developed into a full blown riot. The National Guard should have been deployed before the situation deteriorated into chaos.…

I didn't sit on every budget meeting because that's not my job, nor do I have the time too. That's what my tax dollars go to, representation. My alderman voted against this budget, as did five others. So my guess is that others who have sat through everything also feel the way I do.

Well, it seems you have all the answers on how the city should manage it's money. I'm glad to know you sat in on every meeting, including executive sessions, and know where every dollar on every line-item of the budget it going. We need to respect our police, they are the only thing that stands between us and the chaos like they have in Baltimore.

Homeowner interrupts burglary on Quincy's north side

Quincy Police report a man on the city's north side discovered an intruder in his home on Thursday night.

QPD responded to a burglary in progress call just after 10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Koch's Lane. The home owner was home and found another man in the home.  The suspect then fled out of the house and headed south.  

The K-9 unit was brought in to track the suspect, but he was not located. A wallet was taken from the house.  

QPD had no other description other than the subject was a man.
