That's interesting, because I've worked for 3 different Fortune 500 companies, and every time I've interviewed FIRST, and then, if they wanted to hire me, that's when they did the background checks. So, major, successful businesses in their actual hiring practices versus guy on the internet saying it should be done differently.. Which to believe, which to believe.....

I am much more cynical than I am naive. There is such a thing as "contempt" which is what should be used here. Disturbances by cell phone users happens all across the planet - no reason why court rooms should be exempt.
