A prime piece of Missouri farmland in Central Missouri has been split and sold to two farming families for about $2.1 million.
The family of William Monning, who past away recently, sold the 140-acre estate through the William J. Monning Trust. The estate was split into two 70-acre tracts.
The other 70-acre tract was sold to farmersRyan and Randy Britt for $975,000 or about $13,928 per acre. The Britt family also was a bidder on the tract sold to the Brands, according to Eric Iman, secondary auctioneer and marking manager for Salisbury, Mo.-based Iman Auction Co.
Iman said the land is located in Aholt Bottom in the southern part of Chariton County, not far from the north bank of the Missouri River. The flat land is perfect for farmers because it provides the right combination of soil types and has sufficient drainage, Iman said.
