Clay Party hosted by the Quincy Art Center

Party will be held on March 2 from 10 am-12 pm


The Quincy Art Center will host a Clay Party on March 2nd from 10am to 12pm.

The Clay Party is to thank Al Beck and Jeff Seefeldt for their generosity. Both of these honored guests have donated significant ceramic equipment and supplies to help build the ceramic programs at the Quincy Art Center. A special presentation of thanks will be held for the honored guests at 10:30.

The day will feature snacks, hands on clay activities for all ages, and pottery competitions. At 11:00am pottery games will begin and will feature two skill levels. There will be heavyweight competitions, which is for those with experience and then the lightweight category, which is for beginners. Each skill levels will have the opportunity to see who can throw the tallest cylinder in 1 minute and then again in 15 minutes.

There will also be a competition to see who can throw the most identical pots in 15 minutes. Joe Jostes, of SJ Pottery in Bethel, MO will serve as the competition judge.

This event is free and open to the public. If you would like to participate in the games please call the Quincy Art Center at 217-223-5900 to sign up.

A $5 fee will be charged for each clay item made at the Clay Party that is wanted to be kept and finished.
