City bus driver suspended following accident

The City of Quincy has suspended a Quincy Transit Lines driver after he crashed a bus earlier this month.

Kevin Crider received a two-week suspension following a city investigation.

The City investigates all accidents involving any vehicle in the fleet.

Crider, 51, reportedly tested positive for traces of alcohol in the tests that were administered following the accident.

The BAC threshold under DOT regulations is lower, .04, for drivers with Commercial Drivers Licenses than the legal limit of .08.

Crider was driving the newest bus in the city’s fleet on the morning of September 12 when he hit a pillar and concrete median near a gas station on South 8th Street.

The city purchased the bus with a transportation grant last year.
