The council decided that cheap garbage and free yard waste was more important that public safety. We got new garbage trucks instead of policemen. These were just a few of the alternatives the mayor offered to fund city government but the "Buds" on the council kept voting NO. There is no FREE LUNCH. No firemen were fired and no policemen were fired so it's not all doom and gloom.

It's Ferguson all over again as the Mayor of Baltimore, who's an idiot, and the Governor stood by as the thugs and criminals went wild. Both knew the situation was going to get out of hand yet they sat on their hands and didn't show any force to stop it before it developed into a full blown riot. The National Guard should have been deployed before the situation deteriorated into chaos.…

I didn't sit on every budget meeting because that's not my job, nor do I have the time too. That's what my tax dollars go to, representation. My alderman voted against this budget, as did five others. So my guess is that others who have sat through everything also feel the way I do.

I'm glad to know you sat in on every meeting, including executive sessions, and know where every dollar on every line-item of the budget it going. People who have been laid off from other employers are welcome to attend the session

The Workforce Investment Office, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, will hold an information workshop on Tuesday, June 3, at 9:00 a.m. at the Workforce Service Center, 107 North 3rd Street, for individuals laid off from TGI Fridays.  Individuals who have been laid off from other employers are welcome to attend the session.

Information session topics will include retraining for new employment skills and unemployment insurance.
