" what is your source for this concept that we have exited a natural 30 year cooling period? ' You maintain an amazing ability to ignore the obvious. Those articles is Newspeak and Time addressed the 30 years of abnormally cooler temperatures. Since that we rebounded from about 1980 to 1998, and since then it has been flat, but still warmer than 1979. It is not a "concept" about a…

While you may not trust ice volume levels, which is your prerogative, you must certainly agreethat analyzing only 2D measurements of ice extent is looking at ... just the tip of the iceberg? Actually, while climate is complicated, we've been able to predict over the last couple of decades what will happen with CO2 increasing. Air temps will go up, ice will melt, oceans will heat, land temp readings…

It 's hilarious that you accuse the scientific community of lying to get funding while defending Scott Taylor's garbage article. Scott Taylor is employed by the Heartland Institute whose accidentally disclosed or stolen memos included gems like this: Increased climate project fundraising Our climate work is attractive to funders, especially our key Anonymous Donor (whose contribution dropped…

CoolEdge, what is your source for this concept that we have exited a natural 30 year cooling period? Your basic argument, I take it, is that the earth has natural cycles and we are in a natural warming period following a warming period. Most scientists understand that the Earth requires some force to cause it to heat or cause it to cool. So they look for causes of these periods of cooling/heating…

Illinois union coalition seeks pension injunction

1 year ago from Associated Press

A coalition of unions is asking a Sangamon County judge to prevent a statewide pension overhaul from taking effect until its constitutionality is decided.

We Are One Illinois filed a motion Monday in Springfield seeking a preliminary injunction against the new law. It's supposed to take effect this summer.

The law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn last year essentially cuts benefits for employees and retirees. Illinois has roughly $100 billion in unfunded pension liability.

A We Are One Illinois spokesman says workers will have to make "irrevocable" and "life-altering retirement decisions" based on a law that might not be constitutional. The coalition covers several unions including the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 31.

Members of the State Universities Annuitants' Association have filed a similar motion.
