Wall Street was solidly in the Romney/Ryan camp last time, pjohnf. (And assuming he's the nominee, they'll certainly be in Ryan's camp in 2016.) Why is it that you seem to think that they're Obama supporters?

When did presidential libraries start taking this kind of funding? (I always thought they were privately funded... or at least I remember hearing that the Clinton and Bush #43 libraries were being done that way.)

Off-topic, but just to clarify, I will say that the disabled individuals that I've worked with aren't the least bit interested in free phones or anything like that. (Many of them will never live independently in their own communities; any such "bribes" would be meaningless to them.) Of course there are opportunists who do try to take advantage of every social program under the sun, and…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2, had libraries built with private funds. I can't believe Soros or Buffett (or the Clinton's ;P) aren't contributing to the bill for Obama. Rahm is even stumping for it, as he says it will be a big tourism money maker. Hey, I'm all for it, if it is. On a side note, I think this is the first presidential…

I honestly couldn't care less about anybody's party affiliation. This ID issue actually has A LOT to do with poor people, the elderly, and people with disabilities -- regardless of their personal politics. (There are a lot of poor people in the south who are lifelong Republicans.) Arbitrarily-enacted voter ID laws ultimately won't disenfranchise you or me... but they do have a real…

Former Holidome and City Center facility should be fully renovated this summer

The former Holiday Inn Holidome will become a Quality Inn & Suites, according to the company that purchased the property last year.

Tracy Holdings, LLC, doing business as Great River Hospitality, has announced that it signed a franchise agreement with Choice Hotels, which has Quality Inn and Suites as part of its hospitality portfolio.

Tracy Holdings purchased the 145 room property from Abbott Development in late October when it had no franchise agreement and was called The City Center Hotel. It was originally built as a Holiday Inn in 1984 and owned and operated by the Albanese family out of Springfield, IL. Marine Bank, out of Springfield, took over the property and sold it to Abbott Development in 2008.

“The property has a lot of potential and is well built”, said Stan Seibert, General Manager of Tracy Holdings. “We shut down the property on November 15th and have been working hard to clean all areas, update equipment and systems and finish renovations on several rooms. We plan a soft opening with 60 newly renovated rooms in January. and will finish the rest of the rooms and start flying the Quality Inn & Suites flag by summer.

Quality Inn & Suites is a mid-market hotel chain that will feature family friendly rooms, extended stay suites and a designated floor for business travelers.  The property will offer “Choice Privileges”; a free premire rewards program that can be redeemed for free nights, airline miles, gift certificates and more.  Property amenities will include a complimentarty hot breakfast bar, fitness center, indoor swimming pool, business center, meeting and banquet facilities and complimentary WiFi.

“It is an excellent location and we just need to finish the work that was stalled several years ago”, said Joe Tracy, Owner of Tracy Holdings. “It will take most of 2014 to finish all the rooms and the banquet space but I am excited about the plan”.
