With all due respect, Migraine... I'd say it's an even sadder day (than you seem to think it is) when a lazy/tasteless joke about a plane crash is what passes for "humor" on this site. http://www.snopes.com/media/goofs/ktvu.asp

Good for Mr. Young. But I don't think any of the Liberal, African-American "leaders" like President Obama or Al Sharpton will pay any attention to him, especially because he makes sense.

I think you're down-voted for the hypocrisy of being against one law defining social mores, but being for another that does the same. If you're concerned about the so-called rights of gays to marry, why aren't you concerned about the rights of 15-year-olds to marry, or cousins to marry, or brothers and sisters, or polygamists? It's only because you agree with the age of consent…

Finally a politician that speaks some truth from the Democrat side.
HuhWhy - Airport manager Hester resigns - Quincy, IL News - QuincyJournal.com
A large Republican 10-4 majority on the City Council is fractured on almost every policy issue and it appears the Mayor has difficulty counting votes or swaying council members. City employee morale is low and employees are fearful to be proactive in the current City Hall environment. Some will say this is "cleaning house" that is long overdue. Others say that this is inexperience and incompetence…

Illinois Senate advances ADM tax break bill, House fails to act

Bill not expected to be taken up till Spring session

From Reuters:

The Illinois Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would offer incentives for Archer Daniels Midland Co to keep its global headquarters in Illinois.

ADM has been the dominant corporate presence in the central Illinois city of Decatur for 44 years. Its disclosure in September that it was seeking a new global headquarters shook Decatur and brought other cities, including Chicago, into a contest to land a new corporate nameplate.

The bill would provide tax benefits worth between $20 million and $25 million over the next 15 to 20 years. In exchange, ADM would locate its global headquarters in Chicago, moving 100 jobs there, while also adding 100 jobs a year in Decatur over 5 years.

"It facilitates job creation both in the City of Chicago and a downstate community," said State Sen. Andy Manar, a Democrat, who sponsored the bill. "Those are two areas of the state that typically get pitted against each other."

The Senate voted 39-14 during a one-day session of the state legislature that was called mainly to address pension reform in Illinois. It was not immediately known when the House may vote on the bill.

"Given that the House did not act, we will review our options," said ADM spokeswoman Jackie Anderson. "We expect to make an announcement soon."
