The Cheeseburgers will play at Turner Hall
A benefit for a group offering free guitar lessons to veterans takes place Saturday at Turner Hall in Quincy.
All proceeds for “A Night With The Cheeseburgers” goes to Six String Heroes. Second String Music is sponsoring it with Vancil Performing Arts, and classic rock party band The Cheeseburgers are playing.
Six String Heroes was started by Quincy native Steve Stoner in the St. Louis area. The program gives free guitar lessons and a free guitar to veterans who are recovering from post traumatic stress disorder and other combat related issues.

“ It's huge at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, and we have veterans going through the program in Quincy at Second String Music and Vancil,” says Rodney Hart, co-owner of Second String Music and a volunteer teacher in the program.
String Heroes has also started a chapter at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. More info on SSH is on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/sixstringheroes?fref=ts
Blue Cross/Blue Shield just raised more than $3,000 for the program.
The March 9 event includes Vancil's band, Clockwork, and The Cheeseburgers. It starts at 7 pm. Admission is $5 and advance tickets are available at Second String Music, Fifth and Maine, and Vancil Performing Arts Center, Eighth and Ohio.
