Baucom Truck Service honored as Chamber Ag Business of the Year

Baucom Truck Service was founded in 1949
Over 200 area farmers and agri-business leaders attended the annual Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce ag breakfast Tuesday morning at the Country Inn and Suites.
During the breakfast, the ag committee of the chamber recognized Baucom Truck Service of Camp Point, IL as agri-business of the year. Baucom Truck Service was founded in 1949 by Jim Baucom Sr. His sons Jimmy and Bob now run the business.
Also recognized during the event was the Dave and Linda Duncan family as Farm Family of the year.
The keynote address was given by Colleen Callahan, the Illinois Director for USDA Rural Development. Callahan talked about the role USDA plays and the services it offers for rural development and noted the next big challenge is to bring broadband to rural Illinois.
She also talked about her role and that of the USDA in the response to the drought of 2012. Callahan is leading the effort for USDA which is the lead agency in the disaster relief.
